African penguinThese African Penguins pictures in this pictures gallery are found in South Africa. They are black and white and are seen on some of the beaches. The penguin is a bird though it has adapted to living closely with water. The wings have adapted in to flippers that allow them to swim and push themselves along.They build themselves nests from twigs and leaves, the same as other birds. The first penguin picture shows the distinctive black and white which identifies the penguins.
The penguins colonise in a group at the waters edge. Many are on the beach and a few are in the water.
A number of penguins are seen taking a dip in the water.
A few are on the rocks.
