These Hippo pictures were taken in Africa.
Most of the pictures are taken in or near water.
They spend up to 15 hours a day in water, the rest on land grazing.
They can be 3-4 meters in length and live for around 40 years. As they are very large dark animals then the heat in Africa affects them greatly. Being in water helps them keep cool.
See them swim
and walk in water.
Look at the size of the mouth.
They also like to wallow at the riverside, near the mudbanks.
A family which two young babies walks towards the water
and goes for a swim.
