Lizard Pictures

These lizard pictures are taken in Africa. Lizards are reptiles and there are around 5000 different types. A fascinating fact about lizards - they can detach their tails. They do this in order to escape from predators. They also grow out of their skins, they shed the old skin leaving the new skin that has been growing underneath.

Lizards are related to snakes and can resemble ancient dinosaurs.

Lizards can see colours clearly - you will see from some of the photographs that they can have bright colours. They also use body language as a form of communication.
