Wire Sculptures

Wire sculptures are fairly new to me. I have only created a few items.

Wire is a good media to create art. It is very flexible and comes in a number of materials, colours and thicknesses. It can be used in a number of ways. Below are a few examples.

Head.

Using a single piece of aluminium wire - creation of a face.

This was not as simple as it may first seem. Creating a face with the correct dimensions took considerable effort. The front view was fairly straightforward. The side view was difficult. Making the shape to resemble a head required a number of adjustments.

The wire has some movement in it which gives the head some 'life'

Wire dog and tree.

These are the first two items that I made - the face was the third.

Twisting and wrapping wire techniques were used.

Look out for some more wire sculptures in the future, for now see what else is going on.
